Commissioner Robert Patrick

MEET ROBERT PATRICK

Robert Patrick won a special election to Doraville’s City Council representing District 1 in 2012. He was subsequently re-elected twice. Councilman Patrick campaigned on a platform of sound fiscal policy, transparency, good-paying jobs, sustainable growth, and beautified parks. During his time in office, Councilman Patrick was selected by his colleagues to serve as Mayor Pro Tem for three consecutive years.

Robert also served as both the Vice-President and President of the DeKalb Municipal Association, participated in North End transportation studies, the Doraville Comprehensive Plan Update, the creation of the first Parks and Walkability Master Plan, and the first Buford Highway Livable Centers Initiative.

Councilman Patrick has consistently advocated for walkability, parks and recreation, code enforcement, public safety, effective government, and jobs in Doraville.  He also supported better pay, equipment, and training for the police department.  Some of Robert Patrick’s accomplishments include enforcement of property maintenance codes for a safe and friendly community, street and sidewalk repair projects, and the installation of soccer fields and walking trails in two city parks.

Robert Patrick was instrumental in helping to make the former GM plant, now known as “Assembly Yards” come into fruition, potentially bringing well over a billion dollars to the region. The Assembly development attracted Third Rail Studios which is currently open and filming, as well as the Serta Simmons Bedding relocation, a Fortune 400 company, that will likely bring 500 hundred new jobs to the region. Robert supported the recent purchase of the former Kmart property, a $116 million-dollar mixed-use commercial and housing redevelopment along Buford Highway.
